heartfelt thank you for this. I shared it with therapist friend who appreciated this much needed clearsighted exploration of this incredibly important issue, grounded in some practical actions that can be tried to change how things are being done x

(ps. I am very up for a regular somatic practice space!)

I am glad it resonated with your friend too. A lot of my therapist friends have been struggling in recent years - we really need some new approaches. I sense that personal practices may be essential in order to sustain peer support networks. It’s quite a loop! Good to know about your interest in a somatic support space. I’ll be feeling into this soon and will definitely get an update on here about it in the next two weeks x

I hear the loop! Yes. That's why this call to daily self-support rituals, affirmations and the invitation for all the carebears to be able to name a few people in their lives who can hold space for them feels so important - the creation of space for care on all levels. I have been part of the misery grief online village for a few years, so I really appreciate how powerful the online shared space is for somatic practice. I would love to attend any somatic support spaces you may hold, thank you for feeling into this as an offering, it's very much appreciated (and very much needed) x

i work as a peer support specialist and i will say that nothing makes me feel more robustly supported and cared for than being around a bunch of other peer support specialists. i love supporting the people i work with but i see myself eventually working with groups of PSS workers since our role has been co-opted heavily and widely misunderstood as therapy or case work, which it isn’t. so we benefit most from being in community with each other. that is to say, i think your idea of peer based networks of support is definitely onto something!!
